Apple launches Web Apps listing; posts developer agreement

Apple has launched a repository of Web-based “apps” for the iPhone and iPod Touch. The site offers categorized listings, along with screenshots and descriptions of iPhone/iPod touch-optimized sites including games, productivity, social networking, sports, travel, utilities and more.

Apple acknowledges iPod touch screen issues in support article, no mention of iPhone

In Knowledge Base article #306651, Apple acknowledges a widely reported issue where the iPod touch screen exhibits the following symptoms (in Apple’s words):

Dark or black spots
Video is very dark and looks like a negative image
Dark colors look like film negative
Black areas appear oversaturated to the point of being reflective
Black areas appear to shimmer

We’ve recommended the deletion and subsequent re-installation of the Apple Mobile Device components under Mac OS X and resetting the service under Windows for a variety of iPhone issues, including sync problems, problems recognizing the device, problems restoring, and more.

iTunes 7.4.3 released for Windows, not Mac: addresses iPod touch issues

Apple has released iTunes 7.4.3 for Windows, without an accompanying Mac OS X version. The update “addresses issues with the initial setup of the iPod touch on some international versions of Windows.” The new release is available as a 49MB download.Feedback? info@iphoneatlas.com.

iPod touch software also updated to 1.1.1

In addition to the release of iPhone software/firmware version 1.1.1, Apple has also updated the iPod touch software to version 1.1.1. The update is applied just like the iPhone update — connect iPod touch to your, select iPod touch in the source list and click the Summary tab, then click “Check for Update.”
