iPhone-Only Apps Installation on iPod touch Now Prevented
Posted 10 September 2008 @ 9am in News
A new feature in iTunes 8 prevents iPhone-only applications from installing on the iPod Touch. One of our staffers, David Martin, was syncing his iPod touch for the first time in iTunes 8 when the following dialog appeared:
Subsequently after viewing the full dialog it was clear that iTunes 8 was not going to install the following Apps on the iPod touch due to compatibility issues: Dial Zero, Distance, GPS Tracker, Jott, Kyte, Loopt, NetShare, Voice Notes and Wooo Button.

That’s interesting, since at least some of the apps mentioned (Dial 0, for example) are listed on iTunes as being compatible with both the iPhone and the iPod Touch. So I suspect it might just be a matter of the original developers making some programming tweaks perhaps?

I upgraded to iTunes 8 and my iPod Touch to iPhone OS 2.1 last night. After both upgrades, I synced the Touch and did not lose Dial 0 from my Touch.
