iPhone OS 2.0 (instead of 1.2) included with SDK beta
Posted 27 March 2008 @ 3pm in News
Apple’s newly released iPhone SDK revision (beta 2) includes an updated iPhone Emulator that runs iPhone OS 2.0 build 5A225c. The previous edition of the iPhone SDK included iPhone OS 1.2 build 5A147.
Other than a series of under-the-hood code handling changes, the new revision utilizes an updated version of WebKit — build 525.15 — to render pages in Safari.
As such, we expect that a downloadable edition of iPhone OS 2.0 will be made available to developer program members shortly.

Has anyone been able to test the new HTML5 features with this new build?? I got really upset when I was testing a web app with the first release of the SDK and the simulator didn’t support all that new stuff that was promised in the Web Apps video in ADC@iTunes.
Namely there is the new “fullscreen” meta tag that lets you open your web app in a full screen mode. If anyone has tested this in the new SDK released today please post and let us know! If not, then I’ll check it out later tonight and post back.
Thanks!

I just gave it a shot, and no, full-screen doesn’t seem to work. Also, no full-screen option seems present in the DashCode options for a webapp.
I haven’t tried the database functions yet (although I did load the webkit database demo and no JavaScript error alert appeared, so it may be working). Unfortunately, the webkit database demo doesn’t seem well-suited for use on an iPhone…
