During a special event at its corporate campus this morning, Apple announced that the next release of the iPhone software/firmware will include:
- Native Microsoft Exchange support (ActiveSync has been licensed for the iPhone)
- Push email and contacts
- 802.1x security support
- Remote wipe capabilities
- Cisco IPsec VPN support
Exchange functionality will be built into the iPhone’s current Mail client, and accessible through a new preset option (similar to the current preset options for Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc.)
