Posted 6 March 2008 @ 11am in News

During a special event at its corporate campus this morning, Apple announced that the next release of the iPhone software/firmware will include:

  • Native Microsoft Exchange support (ActiveSync has been licensed for the iPhone)
  • Push email and contacts
  • 802.1x security support
  • Remote wipe capabilities
  • Cisco IPsec VPN support

Exchange functionality will be built into the iPhone’s current Mail client, and accessible through a new preset option (similar to the current preset options for Gmail, Yahoo! Mail, etc.)
