The Irish Times reports that the iPhone will be released next month in Ireland under O2 — the same carrier for the iPhone in the UK. The iPhone will be available in 8GB an 16GB models, costing €399 and €499 (inclusive of VAT) respectively on March 14th. Tariffs (monthly subscription fees) will range from a €45 to €100.
O2 stores and Carphone Warehouse locations will carry the phone, and an 18-month contract will be required.

With a population of 6 million (4.x in the Republic and the rest in Northern Ireland), it makes absolutely no sense that Apple and Rogers/Fido can’t come to an agreement to provide the iPhone in Canada where the population is over 25 million. Well guess what Rogers/Fido and Apple? Most of the people that were going to buy the iPhone have already bought it and unlocked, so there goes your revenue stream! Hah!
