Jailbreak software for 1.1.2 is released
Posted 12 November 2007 @ 4pm in News
Erica Sadun over at TUAW points to a new GUI jailbreak software released by Conceited Software/TouchFree. You’re supposed to run this only after you run OktoPrep in 1.1.1 (Also by Conceited Software, OktoPrep prepares the iPhone for the 1.1.2 jailbreak), and then upgrade to 1.1.2. It works on both OS X and Windows, and the whole procedure is said to take only ten minutes. Of course, you’ll need to downgrade to 1.1.1 if you already bought an iPhone with 1.1.2 on it, which is discussed in the README.txt file in the zip as well as JailBreakMe.com.
You can read more on Erica’s 1.1.2 jailbreaking process here.

The new Jailbreak SW for 1.1.2 does not work on PowerPC Macs :-( 10.4.10 here…
Why can’t the developers make their apps Universal binaries??!

I had a horrible time trying to do this Jailbreak. In fact, I wrote up my failed experience so that users would know that they are not alone.
However, tonight I got it working properly, and tried to document it as detailed as I could. I hope this works for you!

I notice Summerboard isn’t listed in AppTapp after upgrading. I assume it hasn’t been fixed for 1.1.2 yet? I can’t find any hard details anywhere.

The jarfile launches fine, but it says it cannot connect to my iPhone, despite running Oktoprep in 1.1.1 w/AppTapp Installer… Be sure to not have any strange characters in your path to the folder with the jailbreak tools, i.e. spaces, punctuation, etc. This could effect how it runs or prevent it from doing so.

Does anybody know were i can get the firmware 1.1.1 ipsw. I’ve been looking on the web for hours and i still haven’t found anything. You see, Im in the middle of a similar hack but i cant do it without the 1.1.1 firmware. Oh, and touch free did not work on my intel mac either thats why I’m trying to downgrade.

I thought maybe I was the only one having this nightmare, after the oh so seemingly simple procedure as shown by Ev… it’s good to know there are others. Everything goes well for me then from the command line I run ./osx and the jailbreak window pops. I select ssh and press the magic button and get the message:
/Volumes/mmb.2p72AppsUtils/1 gtate$ ./osx
Connecting to iPod/iPhone…
Cannot connect to your device: Please plug your iPod/iPhone into your computer. If you’re still having trouble, restart the computer, reconnect the device and try again.
I tried again from start to finish. Still no luck. I will try a shorter path /1/.osx and see if this helps any

So I moved it to / but had the same issue:
/1 gtate$ ./osx
Connecting to iPod/iPhone…
Cannot connect to your device: Please plug your iPod/iPhone into your computer. If you’re still having trouble, restart the computer, reconnect the device and try again.
When checking logs I see:
Nov 14 06:57:38 mmb crashdump[7107]: iphuc crashed
Nov 14 06:57:38 mmb crashdump[7107]: crash report written to: /Users/gtate/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/iphuc.crash.log
Nov 14 06:57:38 mmb crashdump[7105]: iphuc crashed
Nov 14 06:57:38 mmb crashdump[7105]: crash report written to: /Users/gtate/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/iphuc.crash.log
Nov 14 06:57:38 mmb crashdump[7109]: iphuc crashed
Nov 14 06:57:38 mmb crashdump[7109]: crash report written to: /Users/gtate/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/iphuc.crash.log
Nov 14 06:57:38 mmb crashdump[7111]: iphuc crashed
there are two instances of iphuc crashing and restarting in a closed loop, called from jailbreak.
The crashes are not caused because jailbreak cannot connect to the iphone but rather the crashes are why jailbreak cannot connect.
c-98-207-20-179:/1 gtate$ ./osx
Connecting to iPod/iPhone…
Cannot connect to your device: Please plug your iPod/iPhone into your computer. If you’re still having trouble, restart the computer, reconnect the device and try again.

HighTechDad thanks. I have spent a good 3 days trying to jailbreak 1.1.1 up to 1.1.2 Your blog entry in RED was the key -only for intel mac’s.
If that was in bold in iPhone atlas I would not have wasted a lot of time.
I did the entire procedure on my G5 PPC but then ran the jailbreak.jar on my MacBook Pro. That was all that was needed to complete the process.
Thanks

Hi. I wanted to know if there is a way to go from 1.0.2 to 1.1.2 & unlock for 3rd party apps? I didn’t update to 1.1.1 b/c of all the @$%#-ups. Is this possible? If not, can 1.1.1 still be added, then go the unbrick..etc route? thanks in advance
